volume Bike
Volume bikes are now offering the Cutter model as a frame and fork set. The frame uses the same tubing as their high-end bmx frames and shares the same seemless, double butted CR-MO Heat-Treated tubing. $350
Review of Chrome Midway
I must confess that I was highly skeptical towards Chrome’s shoe range. Sure, they’re one of the world’s leading manufacturers of bike messenger bags with a fine tradition. 'Chrome started in Boulder, Colorado 14 years ago when a couple of guys needed bags and couldn’t find anything that met their standards. So they got the toughest materials they could find, headed into their garage and started sewing.’ Chrome may not be the first name that comes to my mind when the time comes to get new functional shoes for cycling. But when I received a pair of their Midways back in 2010 I was pretty stoked.
The Midway is distinguished for its fusion of durable cordura and stylish suede that hits below the ankle bone. An awesome looking shoe which impresses me with functionality, high quality materials and some tough riding features.
Chrome currently offers six different shoes: Dresden, Tobruk, Midway, Saipan, Kursk and Arnhem. The Midway was built for those who want a tough shoe to wear from bike to bar with a unique style and let’s just say that there's way more to it than that.
The shoe slips on smooth and feels like my favorite pair of sneakers. I'm amazed at how comfortable these shoes are. As they break in they just get more and more comfortable. To this day, I can honestly say that I did not feel any discomfort. Not to mention they look killer.
Most of my shoes are great to walk in but their performance on the pedals is really terrible. These babies have a stiff sole from the heel to the ball of the foot to prevent flexing from downward pressure when pumping the pedals but yet flexible in the forefoot so that you don’t have to walk around like a dork. I’m positive that the re-enforced nylon/glass fiber shank to support the midsole is one of the key features which makes these shoes unique. By the way the insole is removable.
I’m using a BMX-style platform pedal in combination with a foot retention system. Their low profile design fits perfectly into the toe straps. Entry of the straps are still super quick and easy. The skid resistant contact rubber on the eye catching red stiff-soled shoe offer the best foot to peddle contact that I have ever had.
The particularly stiff and solid sole tells against weight. To reduce weight should be Chromes main goal for the future.
The tread is super grippy, even in the rain but still easy to extricate yourself from your bike when things go wrong, sometimes terribly wrong. I never get the feeling that my foot is backing out of the strap as I’m trying to stop. My feet feel totally secure and they're solid as hell, none of the cordura or suede are wearing too fast.

Ganstaa Track Ver 2 Brooklyn
'The geometry is the same tried and true formula that helped to launch a new wave of fixed gear bikes, when the first Gangsta Track was produced in the summer of 2005. In the ensuing time, the frame has evolved. The latest step in this evolution is a move to having the Gangsta' Track designed in Brooklyn and produced in Taiwan. This move allowed us more manufacturing possibilities, while still keeping the price reasonable. We've been working for some time to make this happen and we're happy with the result.'
The Juliet Scissors V 2
As you may already know Juliet changed the set up of her Charge Scissor V2 Prototype a few days ago. Among other things she decided to try some 26inch Chukkers. Juliet has been riding this new setup for a couple of days now and posted a few thoughts on 26inch versus 700c on her blog. Read all her pros and contras here.
By the way, Juliet's Scissor V2 prototype isn’t the final geometry. The production model has different geometry entirely and a lower stand over height. The new frame is gonna hit the shops in the UK in November or December.

Halo Trick N Track Hub
A few companys are working on a splined hub to substitute the historic threaded cog/lockring setup. This one caught my eye. The Halo Fix-G Track Hub has a splined hub body (with cogs that slide on) and an independent lockring, that never has to handle rotational forces from the drive.
Halo:'The Halo Fix-G hub features a fixed HG spline machined as part of the alloy main hub body*, with a conventional internal thread for a standard HG type lockring (with easy tool fittings) + options L/H side for conventional fixed or freewheel threads.
*Note: Must ONLY ever be used with “7mm base Wide Foot” cogs… such as Gusset Double Six cogs to avoid the cog biting into the alloy splines on the hub. Regular width HG cogs should NEVER be used.'

Volume Manchu Fork
The new Volume V2 Fu Manchu Forks are out now. The forks just got whole lot better with a new leg cut-out for more clearance. Axle to Crown Length is still 420mm, 15mm more than the Thrasher Fork.
Bianchi RAD tools
This rad Bianchi tool is one of the coolest I've ever seen. The body is extralight carbon fiber so it's about 1/2 the weight yet still super strong. The carbon mini is just over 2" long but contains 8 different tools: hex wrenches in 2,3,4,5 and 6mm plus Phillips head screwdriver, flat head screwdriver, and 2.5mm Torx wrench. This is a cool tool to keep in your saddle bag with another in your glove compartment. Color is celeste covered carbon fiber. Closed length is just 5.5cm (2.3").

Volume Bike Trick Ver.2
Volume launched their new Trickster Bars and celebrates this with a wonderful Trickster V2 Ad. This shot of Congo by Matt Spenser makes me dream of summer. Damn! It has been snowing for days and going by bike is nearly impossible at the moment.
Whatever! Congo and the guys, such as Tom Mosher have been running the new Trickster bars for quite a while. Finally the bars are also available at your local bike shop.
The new Trickster Bars are 4" wider than the old version and have a changed geometry - more backsweep and less upsweep. Check it out!
Volume: 'The birth of the original Trickster bar was from our first 26″ BMX Sledgehammer bar. We felt that it needed a lil’ more finessing and ended up with one of the most popular fixed gear bars to date. Great geometry and feel make this bar feel great whether you’re just cruising or jumping stairs.'
Congo’s chrome setup. I thought that Chrome is out, but this setup looks great. Especially in combination with his flat black Thrasher frame. Killer!
Specs:
Full 13-butted, heat treated CRMO
Clamp size: 22.2 mm
Rise: 4″
Width: 26″
Backsweep: 11°
Upsweep: 1°
Weight: 16 oz
Colors:
Raw, Chrome, White & Black

Extravaganza
Fixie Inc. is known for their quality, creativity and unconventional solutions. The design of the Backspin 2011 is speaking for itself and the color concept is really stunning. I like the combination of matt and glossy paint and the parts are well-chosen. The Backspin is definitely more than just an entry-level bike!
